There are so many keys to MLM success. I’d probably be here for days trying to talk about them all. But one that I think without question is vital to any network marketer’s success is the ability to build relationships.

We humans are so different. Yet we are so much the same. We all have the same needs, aspirations, desires and what have you. The true key to MLM success is the ability of a person to become a leader and connect with people.

Here are some keys to allow you to build strong relationships with people.

MLM Success Key #1

Be a regular guy. Don’t try to use sales speak when you speak with people. Don’t try to put on your business voice. Just be yourself and be natural. People can sense when you’re being you.

MLM Success Key #2

Don’t try to be liked by everyone. I see people going to great lengths all the time to be liked. Often they come off wrong when they really mean well. But remember, not everyone is going to like you. Sometimes that is just the way the ball bounces. But by being genuine and a real person you’d be surprised how much more you’ll connect with people that you could have ever thought possible.

MLM Success Key #3

Don’t try to shove your opportunity down people’s throats. People are so smart these days when it comes to sales pitches. Here in the U.S. we are so guarded from telemarketers and the like that we really have our guards up. Don’t to pitch people to death and you’ll build better relationships and a better business in the long run.

MLM Success Key#4

Don’t make your product or service a one size fits all deal. Be straight up with people if what you got isn’t a good fit. It’s all about having people’s best interests at heart. And ultimately you’ll connect better with people for it.

I can remember times when I didn’t think a product I had was a good fit and told someone that. Then when I had another product later on down the line and I shared it, it was a done deal. Not only did I build trust and a relationship, but I truly looked out for the person.

If you know how to use this information, your business and life will become easier and less stressful. You will be able to form a bond with people quickly, therefore creating the know, like, and trust factor in less time. If this technology is not learned, you may be speaking to your prospects in a way which will turn them off to both you and your business.

MLM Success Key #5

Have an interest in people. If you speak to a prospect on the other side of the county why not ask them how things are in their neck of the woods. It costs you nothing. You’d be surprised where a conversation can go. You never know, you could make a friend for your next vacation. It’s not always all about just getting right to business and pitching someone on your business. Build rapport.

With so many heavy hitters endorsing MLM these days it’s amazing that you still get so many different answers to this question. President Clinton, Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump and Robert Allen have all put their stamp of approval on network marketing over the past few years.

But still, if you ask 10 people it’s not uncommon for it to split right down the middle on if an opportunity is just another MLM scam or if it’s legit. The term most often used is pyramid scheme or pyramid scam.

Even if you ask people who have tried it, you’ll get different answers.

Well I’m here to spill the beans on the topic of MLM Scams. Here we go…

MLM is legit and a powerful business model. The problem is that most people who join an MLM business think that they are going to get rich. This type of business attracts a lot of get rich quick thinkers.

I don’t know what makes someone think that they can quit their 9-5 J.O.B. and work 3 hours a day and get rich without any work. This idea is ridiculous. And then what happens when people finish watching presentations of how powerful the compensation plan is and get out there and do nothing and checks don’t appear they call MLM a scam.

What they fail to realize, is you make money in MLM through hard work. Especially in the beginning. And building businesses requires work. Ask any business owner who has been in business for a while and they will tell you. 

Now I will admit, not all companies are created equal. Some go out of business. Some do the wrong things. Some even cheat their representatives out of payments. But this is nothing new in business.

 You need to do your due diligence in this area just as you would in any business. Research the company and see how long they have been in business. Learn more about the CEO, competitors, and things like this. Just as you would if you were going for a job interview.

Usually the companies that are startups are the most risky. But again, do your due diligence. Sometimes startups are great as they offer an opportunity to get in on a ground floor opportunity.

The main thing I can’t stress enough is you must do your due diligence. And second, you have to work the business if you expect to see some success with an MLM opportunity. Get the idea of getting rich quick out of your head. Go buy a lotto ticket or go to Vegas if you feel the need to get rich immediately.

If any MLM business owner expects to survive they have to gets leads for their business. Leads are the lifeblood of any business. But more specifically qualified leads.

I’d rather have 10 visitors who convert to qualified leads than 1000 people who visit my site and do nothing. And when it comes to Qualified MLM leads you have to get people who have an interest in what you’re sharing or else you’re wasting your time. And your advertising bucks.

MLM Leads can help you grow your business because in network marketing just as in any other business it is a numbers game. After getting some of those leads to convert into customers and distributors things get easier and easier. Your business gets momentum.

Spin your wheels long enough and don’t get leads and this leads to failure and even worse quitting. This is why most network marketers usually quit. They aren’t getting enough leads. No one is interested in their business and then as any entrepreneur should they evaluate things and ask is it worth it.

They either waste time, or money, or both and then they get disenchanted. Well you’re not alone. And it’s not your fault. There is so much stuff out there that it can make your head spin thinking about which method is best.

The key to getting qualified prospects who eventually become performing distributors or happy customers is to find one method. That’s right. Find one method on the internet and drive that sucker like it’s the last car you’ll ever drive for the rest of your life.

Just this attitude is good for someone starting out. Even though, eventually you’ll want to add more methods into the mix. But for starters, find one method, two tops to stick with and put your all into for a long period of time.

For the purpose of this article I’m no going to get into which one is best. But there are so many out there. The trick is to just find one. Now! With a little stick-to-it-iveness you can make it work. But that’s just it, most people don’t find that one method and stick to it.

So get out there and find one method and get started. And remember, drive it until the wheels fall off.

If you’re looking to start an MLM business there are certain mistakes you’ll want to avoid making. These are mistakes that newbie’s and veterans alike make. They can often hinder your success with your MLM business. Knowing these mistakes can make all the difference in helping your business get in profit as soon as possible.

Start An MLM Business Mistake #1

Not finding an mlm business that has a good comp plan. This is text book. Who wants to be bothered with having to balance the legs and all that nonsense? Give me a simple comp plan so I can blow it out. Most newbie’s just want to get started and make good money. But once they see that the comp plan is rediculous they get discouraged. Check to see if your company does charge backs. Check and see how soon you can get the big checks. This is important. This leads into the next mistake.

Start An MLM Business Mistake #2

They start out with low ticket item products instead of top tier opportunities. If you’re looking to earn serious money in a hurry, it’s very hard to do so selling a $12 product or service. This also discourages a lot of network marketers. I suggest you look for top tier opportunities where you can make big bucks in a short period of time. How? Easy. You aren’t selling those low ticket item products and instead you’re getting bigger checks sooner.

If you want to earn 10 grand per month reverse engineer from that $10,000 and see how much it would take you to get there. With a $12 product that would take the efforts of you and your downline moving something like 830 products. Ouch. But if we’re talking a product that goes for $500 it doesn’t require a whole lot more of an effort if done right. And the rewards are out of all conceivable proportion.

Start An MLM Business Mistake #3

This is a big no-no. So many people make the mistake of following their company directives and recruiting their family and friends. They think this is the best way to do it. Well I feel this is false thinking.

I have personally lost friends over this. After trying to recruit one of my buddies into two of my opportunities he stopped taking my calls. He started acting cold towards me. And he told my friends that I’m trying to use him. Well that’s what I get for trying to mix business with friendship. Some people don’t take it the way us entrepreneurs think.

We think we’re sharing and helping. But to someone who is content with a 9-5 our thinking just doesn’t make sense. Besides, my friend wasn’t even a targeted prospect. He had no interest in my products.

The better way to do it is let people find you through your marketing materials that speak directly to them. Now instead of chasing and losing friends, you’ll have someone who is interested in your business and targeted. It’s much easier to add people into your business this way.
